Privacy Policy

Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address and authentication credentials when you create an account or sign in.
• Business information you provide. The name, location, and other public details of the business you ask us to check, including anything you submit when confirming your business facts.
• Report data. The scan results we generate for you — scores, findings, and the AI assistant answers we collected on your behalf.
• Billing information. When you subscribe to a plan or buy extra scans, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details; we receive limited billing metadata from Stripe, such as which plan you are on, its renewal or cancellation date, and the scans you have bought.
• Usage data. Basic technical information such as log data and device/browser information, used to operate and secure the Service.
• Approximate location and language.When you search for a business, we use the approximate location (city-level coordinates and country) that our hosting provider derives from your IP address, and your browser’s preferred language, so that nearby businesses rank first. We pass these to Google Places with the search and do not store them.
• Product and site analytics. We use PostHog to understand how the Service is used — pages viewed, features used, and actions such as running a scan or starting a purchase — and this is associated with your account once you sign in. We also use Google Analytics to measure visits to our website, such as pages viewed, referring sites, and device, browser, and approximate location. Both use cookies or similar storage, subject to your cookie choices (see below).

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies in three categories: strictly necessary cookies, which keep you signed in and remember your choices; analytics cookies; and advertising cookies, which measure which of our ads lead to sign-ups. PostHog helps us see where people get stuck so we can improve the Service; its data is tied to your account identifier and email once you sign in. Google Analytics measures traffic to our website, and Google Ads measures our advertising; we do not send Google your email or account details, and Google processes that data under its own privacy policy. Meta and TikTok measure our ads on their platforms: if you allow advertising cookies, their pixels run on our website, and when you sign up or make a purchase we send them that event from our servers with a one-way hash of your email address and account ID, your IP address, and your browser type. Meta and TikTok process that data under their own privacy policies. We do not sell analytics data or use it to retarget you.

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent before setting analytics or advertising cookies. Wherever you are, you can accept or reject each category at any time from “Cookie settings” in the site footer. Our Cookie Policy lists every cookie we use, what it does, and how long it lasts.

Separately from cookies, when you use your account we record key actions, such as signing up, adding a business, completing a scan, and making a purchase, in PostHog against your account ID, so we can understand how the Service is used. This does not depend on your cookie choices. You can object to it by contacting us at support@get-verity.com.

How we use information

• To run scans and generate your reports.
• To send you transactional email — magic sign-in links, password resets, and your scan reports.
• To process payments, manage your plan, and track your scan balance.
• To maintain, secure, and improve the Service.
• To comply with legal obligations.

Third-party AI providers

To check how AI assistants describe your business, we send prompts about your business to third-party AI providers, currently OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini), and Anthropic (Claude). The prompts we send contain the business details needed to ask about your business; they are not used to identify you personally. Each provider processes that data under its own terms and privacy policy, over which we have no control.

How AI answers are generated

The content of your reports is derived from answers produced by third-party AI systems. These systems are probabilistic and non-deterministic: the same question can yield different answers at different times, and the answers may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Because of this, a Verity report reflects what those systems said at a specific moment, not a verified or permanent fact about your business.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the Service — including our AI providers, payment processor (Stripe), email delivery provider, hosting and database providers, our analytics providers (PostHog and Google Analytics), our advertising measurement providers (Google, Meta, and TikTok), and our business-lookup provider (Google Places) — and only as needed to provide the Service. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

Data retention

We retain your account and report data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deleting it permanently removes your account, the businesses you monitor, and their reports, cancels any active plan immediately, and forfeits any unused scans. You can also ask us to delete your data by contacting us at the address below. Stripe keeps its own payment records, and some records may be retained where required for legal, accounting, or security purposes.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can delete your account yourself from your account page; to exercise any other right, contact us using the details below.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
