Cookie Policy

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work the same way for our purposes, so this policy covers them too and calls them all “cookies.” Cookies set by Verity itself are first-party; cookies set by the services we use, such as Google Analytics, are third-party.

How we ask for consent

We group cookies into three categories: strictly necessary, analytics, and advertising. Strictly necessary cookies are always on, because the Service can’t work without them. If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we ask before setting any analytics or advertising cookies and set none until you accept. Elsewhere, they are on by default.

Wherever you are, you can accept or reject each category at any time from “Cookie settings” in the site footer or with the button below. We remember your choice for 12 months, then ask again.

Strictly necessary

These are set by Verity and don’t need your consent.

• verity_session: keeps you signed in. Lasts 30 days, or until you sign out.
• verity_consent: remembers your cookie choices. Lasts 12 months.
• verity_consent_region: records whether we need to ask for your consent where you are, based on the country of your IP address. Deleted when you close your browser.
• verity-theme (local storage): remembers whether you picked the light or dark theme. Kept until you clear it.

Analytics

Analytics cookies show us which pages people visit, where visitors come from, and where they get stuck, so we can improve the Service. We don’t sell this data or use it to advertise to you.

• ph_<project key>_posthog and local and session storage entries beginning with ph_ or __ph_: PostHog, our product analytics provider. They give your browser a random identifier so visits can be counted together, and link it to your account once you sign in. The cookie lasts 1 year.
• _ga and _ga_<ID>: Google Analytics. They distinguish visitors and sessions so we can measure traffic to our website. They last 2 years.
• verity_ga_signup: set by Verity when you create an account, so Google Analytics can count the sign-up. It is deleted on the next page you view, and lasts 1 hour at most. We set it only if you allow analytics or advertising cookies.

If you reject analytics cookies, or haven’t chosen yet in a region where we ask first, PostHog and Google Analytics still receive a basic record of the pages you view, but nothing is stored on your device. PostHog counts these visits with a one-way hash of your IP address and browser that changes every day, so it can’t recognize you from one day to the next. Google uses these signals to estimate overall traffic and conversions without identifying you.

Separately from cookies, when you use your account we record key actions, such as signing up, adding a business, completing a scan, and making a purchase, in PostHog against your account ID, so we can understand how the Service is used. This does not depend on your cookie choices. You can object to it by contacting us at support@get-verity.com.

Advertising

Advertising cookies tell us which of our ads lead people to sign up or buy, so we know which ads are worth running. We never use them to show you personalized ads or to add you to advertising audiences.

• _gcl_au and other cookies beginning with _gcl_: Google Ads, set through Google Analytics. They record that you arrived from one of our ads so a later sign-up or purchase can be credited to it. They last 90 days.

Controlling cookies in your browser

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s settings. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies won’t affect any part of the Service. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and stop us from remembering your cookie choices.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this policy when we add, remove, or change a cookie, and revise the “Last updated” date above.
